As 2015 comes to an end, Edovo is reflecting on the past year's accomplishments. In the past twelve months, Edovo:
Became a "technology company changing the world," and one of the 50 most innovative companies in Chicago.
Engaged 80% of users in educational programming on a weekly basis at our largest facility. This demonstrates the enormous interest incarcerated learners have in high-quality educational resources.
Won the Tap the Future, Notre Dame Zielsdorf, and Points of Light startup competitions. Were semi-finalists in the Microsoft Small Business competition.
Presented at industry conferences around the country, and introduced our unique educational platform to correctional leaders from Florida to Nevada. Edovo also spoke at numerous technology and criminal justice events, including the Social Capital Markets Conference, Data & Civil Rights Conference, and the IJIS Corrections Tech Forum.
Met with the bipartisan offices of the Congressional Criminal Justice and Public Safety Caucus in D.C., and advocated for criminal justice legislation that focused on reducing recidivism through programming while incarcerated.
Most importantly, we saw the impact of Edovo's academic, vocational, and therapeutic courses on incarcerated learners in facilities across the country. One of our users wrote about his experience:
"I like all the courses, especially those related to [the] food industry, because I've been working in food and wine industry for years and one of my dreams is to be [the] owner of my own place and help homeless people because everybody needs a hand. I really appreciate the help and what Edovo offers to the inmates to be better persons in this beautiful life."
– A., a California jail user
We are so motivated by the opportunities that our educational suite is bringing to many, including A., and we look forward to bringing high-quality, digital programming to more incarcerated users in 2016.
